Welcome Meteor!!
by Don Blackwell on Jun.27, 2008, under General News
Once again, please welcome our new brothers and sisters at Meteor to the USW Local 2737.
These folks have had a tough road after voting to have a union last year, ratifying their first contract recently and fending off a desertification vote.
At the May Local 2737 meeting, the membership voted to allow our friends at Meteor to become our newest amalgamated unit! Congratulations

Zack Space Commits to Oppose Columbia Free Trade
by Don Blackwell on Apr.21, 2008, under General News
On Monday, April 21st, 2008, Zack Space met with Steelworkers and other Union members from around the county at the USW Hall in New Philadelphia to sign a pledge to oppose the Columbia Free Trade Agreement.
Before signing the pledge, Congressman Space acknowledged that it is inappropriate for our government to establish free trade with any country with such a lack for human rights as Columbia. It is well known that the Colombian government has frequently endorsed and supported the harassment, intimidation and even murder of union representatives and other labor rights advocates in that country for years.
Toxic Trade Demonstration
by Don Blackwell on May.21, 2007, under General News
On Wednesday, January 16th, local USW Members along with supporters from in and around the Tuscarawas Valley stood together to increase awareness of the affects of Toxic Trade.
More than a dozen and half supporters stood at the intersection of Bluebell Drive and West High Avenue across from Burger King. We’d like to thank everyone for taking the time to champion this important cause.
