Fall Festival

At our last amalgamated meeting (June 28, 2010), President Rees informed the membership that the fall festival, which was canceled last year, may be held this year if volunteers step forward to help plan and coordinate the event.

Updated Information

Kit and Lisa have been working diligently over the past couple of weeks to get the books from last year closed out and restarted for this year.

Part of this process has included updating the Local/Unit Officers board so I figured I’d take the time to get the web site updated. A few seats have changed since the last election!

ACTION CALL: Make the Call for REAL REFORM Today!

Now that healthcare reform is finally moving forward in Congress, it is imperative that all of us take the time to make a few phone calls to ensure that the final legislation works for us!

Action Instructions:

1 – Dial Toll-Free, 866-203-4960

2 – Ask for your Senators (Ohio – George Voinovich and Sherrod Brown) and Representative (Depends on your district, District 18 (for example) – Zach Space)

3 – Tell him or her that you are a voter and they need to:

Support Healthcare Reform that:

  • Has a STRONG Public Option
  • Ensures employers provide care or pay into a system to ensure everyone can get care, and
  • Does NOT tax benefits.

Also, make sure your Unit Chair or Rapid Response Coordinator notifies Bruce or myself (Don Blackwell) about the calls you’ve made so we can keep track of activity within our unit.

On Monday, April 27th, all units held elections for unit and local offices. The newly elected officers will be sworn in at the monthly meeting in May.

Rally for Employee Free Choice!

Saturday, April 4th at Noon

Rally in support of the Employee Free Choice Act.

Door-to-Door Canvassing will follow the rally to talk with local community members about Employee Free Choice.
